Vacation Bible School

They had a really fun day.  I was pleasantly surprised that Miss Stella went with her class and hung out with her teacher all day, even when Grandma tried to come get her.  Maybe preschool won't be as hard as I thought this fall.  Piper enjoyed the science experiments, and we talked about pandas on the way home.  The giant whale was a big hit, even though I had to correct their learning that a whale is not a fish.  They were able to walk inside the pretend MAMMAL and hear the story of Jonah.

Ooh, a bug!

So the girls are obsessed with bugs.  Well, on their terms anyways.  Bugs are cool most of the time, although Stella will still shriek if she sees and ant.  Both girls were so excited tonight when Daddy moved the trashcan to roll it down to the curb.  Underneath the trashcan were dozens of roly polys.  How exciting to collect in their bug catcher jars.

My Daughter the Self-Dresser

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kimann-schultz/my-daughter-the-self-dresser_b_3304416.html

The above is an article written by a former student's parent.  I can totally relate.  You see I too have a self-dresser.

Piper was the child who had an organizer in her closet.  Each week I would pick out a set of outfits that included matching accessories. She kept them clean for the most part, and she looked cute.  Stella still looks cute, but she is more likely to drip an ice cream cone down the front of her shirt, or get
grass stains on her knees.  To complicate matters, Stella doesn't wear anything I pick out.  She has her own agenda.  One that typically includes a change of outfit every twenty minutes. Her preferred look is layers, lots of them.  As in, maybe she should wear three poofy skirts at one time, a couple
different shirts, and a pair of cowboy boots.  Now before you get the wrong idea, she is actually pretty good at coordinating her outfits.  She figures out what colors go together, will match themes like holiday outfits, and so on.  As I said in my email to the mom who wrote this article, Piper plays with dress up clothes, but Stella lives in them.  She is my creative, free spirited, overly dramatic, and sensitive child.

Fairy Garden

I have wanted to make a fairy garden for a couple of years now.  Thankfully I am blessed with daughters who are in love with fairies as much as I am.  After dozens of pins on Pinterest, I finally got together some materials to make our very own fairy garden.

Piper is laying out the path of rocks.

A small pretend fairy to play with during the day.

Love the brooms

Here is the river we made.

We had a lot of fun picking out miniature plants for our garden.

Still a work in progress.  We are working on the house that will go in the bare section in the back.

Planting the pumpkins in the garden.

I have some more accessories ordered that I am excited to add to the tub when they arrive.  Check back soon!

Sneakiness

It was quiet.  Too quiet.  You know the kind where you just know something is up.  When both girls are this quiet, you know they have conspired something together.  As they peeked at me around the corner of the garage, I could see the ice cream that was nonchalantly being devoured.  As if they hadn't already had a Bomb Pop tonight.  As if they had forgotten they weren't supposed to help themselves from the deep freezer.  Erick swears he is putting a lock on it.  For now, we let them savor their treat. And then, it wasn't quiet anymore.  I could hear the arguing, the tattles, and their shared moment of conspiracy was over.

...until the next time.
